The Merlina singer said she will always be grateful that the late actor objected when they were asked to kiss to test their love interests after being friends for years.
During an interview with French television channel Canal+, Ortega, 21, mentioned that she felt “uncomfortable” during an audition.
“The last time I saw my friend Cameron Boyce, we were supposed to kiss at an audition and he had known me since I was 11 or 12. This was a few years later, I was 15 or 16. We were supposed to be love interests. But because he obviously felt weird and was a little bit older , we both finally looked at each other and were like, ‘No, we can’t do this. ’ And it was so sweet because I was awkward and I was having a hard time. And then we just wished each other the best.”
Jenna was “really grateful” to Cameron for refusing to kiss her, and agreed with her Beetlejuice co-star Catherine O’Hara when she said he had been “such a gentleman.”

Meanwhile, the actress recently admitted she felt “terrified” about joining ‘Beetlejuice’ as Astrid Deetz – the daughter of Winona Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz – alongside A-list actors including ‘Stranger Things’ star Michael Keaton and Catherine O’Hara.
“I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that something like this would happen. Lydia Deetz, Winona’s character, is the coolest character on the planet. I was terrified,” she said on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’.
