This Massive Money Heist Plot Hole Changes Everything

It’s still surprising that Money Heist was an absolute flop when it premiered on Antena 3. It started by attracting over 4 million viewers, but its popularity plummeted, and season 2 ended with 1.7 million—a figure that would now be cause for celebration, but in 2017 was still considered low . It took Netflix to rescue it and turn it into an international phenomenon that, with the release of Berlin and the Lady in the Ermine , promises to continue for many years to come.

Despite the Professor’s meticulous preparation of every contingency in the plan, the truth is that Money Heist is riddled with plot holes. Not only because of obvious things, like the fact that no shot actually harms the gang or that the Professor couldn’t possibly have that many backup plans, but because, from its very inception, the plan should have been a monumental failure.
What no one took into account is that IMBISA, the printing company that makes the banknotes (and which is now far from the Mint, by the way), doesn’t have unlimited resources… so it would be impossible to create banknote after banknote out of thin air for days on end. Non-stop production would create a shortage very quickly, and the plan would have fallen apart after a few hours. Surely the Professor had another plan, of course, but even so, it’s completely implausible.
