The Incredibles 3 Release Date and Plot Details

The 2024 D23 Expo was packed with news. Disney showed a new character from ‘Zootrópolis 2’, ‘Frozen 3’ announced its release date and a new image, ‘Moana 2’ released a trailer… Pixar was also not left out of the big Disney conference; the house that bought it liquidated its main animated competition instantly. First, it was ‘Toy Story 5’ that was announced, and that’s even though ‘Toy Story 4’ already seemed like a somewhat forced opening to the closed ending of ‘Toy Story 3’. ‘The Incredibles 3’ now follows in its wake.

As a result, the Pixar superhero family, created by Brad Bird, will become a trilogy. However, the confirmation has left us with many questions that we will try to answer in this article. We will also update this article as more information about the film becomes known.

The Incredibles 3 Possible release date

‘The Incredibles 3’ was officially announced at the D23 Expo in August 2024. However, the announcement was not accompanied by anything other than the logo. It was announced, however, that the Pixar sequel is already in development. Pete Docter, Pixar’s acting creative director, announced that Brad Brid, screenwriter and director of the first two installments, was working on it.

However, we can only assume that Incredibles 3 was announced at an early stage and that there is still a lot of work to be done. There were 14 years between the first two installments, but we don’t think that’s a favorable indicator. Right now, Disney has a much higher frequency of sequels. With the film announced, we think Incredibles 3 won’t arrive until 2027. Although they could surprise us in 2026, we consider it difficult.

The Incredibles 3 Possible Plot

Although it is disguised under action and superpowers, ‘The Incredibles’ has always been and always must be a family drama. The first film focused on the crisis of the father of the family, of a husband tired of his job and, to a certain extent, of his family, who is tempted to lead a double life. Of course, the usual thing here would be an affair with another woman. Something that was hinted at in the film through the figure of Mirage but which, of course, was redirected through superpowers and heroism.

The second part, ‘The Incredibles 2’, shifted the weight from the man to the woman in the midst of a wave of vindication of female stories. Now the family crisis came because she was the one who had to work, and he, like so many other comedies, had to take care of the children and, above all, a problematic baby. In both cases, stopping the villain was just the excuse. The trip always ended with a family reconciliation where everyone learned a little more about how to live together, with their particularities, and keep the family and the couple united after that little battle of the sexes.

Having dedicated one film to the generic male problems of the father of the family and another to the emancipation of the housewife, reversing roles in the process, the truth is that a third part should not upset this tie. That is to say, we believe that ‘The Incredibles 3’ would do well to dedicate more time to the three children of the family, to finally take them as the plot’s center and not as an excuse, gag, or diversion.

It’s true that ‘The Incredibles 3’ could once again tell us about the mother’s or father’s problems or bring up a new marital crisis, but we believe that what should come next is precisely that approach to their children, that coming-of-age that they are also dealing with in ‘Inside Out 2’ and that here would have the incentive of superheroes. In addition, the dynamic between the leading couple could also be fueled by the problem of how to deal with teenage rebellion. Of course, this is just a bet, however logical it may seem to us, until the official synopsis is truly announced.
