Bridgerton Season 4: Release Date & New Protagonists Revealed

The Bridgerton make Netflix users unable to take their eyes off the screen. The third season of the series is proving to be highly addictive for fans, who have embraced the story of Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) with great enthusiasm. This love story has surprised not only Eloise and all readers of Julia Quinn’s novels, but also Lady Whistledown herself. The reason is that the young lovers skipped a Bridgerton brother in the list of protagonists in the fiction.

Whispers, palace dramas, period balls… London’s high society gossip has already seen four love stories emerge: that of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke (Regé-Jean Page), that of Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), that of Colin and Penelope, and, of course, that of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and King George III (Corey Mylchreest). The Bridgerton family tree still has more names to match.

Who is the new protagonist? When will the new episodes premiere? Here’s everything we know about season four of The Bridgerton.

Possible protagonists of Bridgerton season 4

Until Season 3, the publication date of Julia Quinn’s books had determined who would star in each season of the series. Colin and Penelope’s story has changed this tradition, as Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) was supposed to be the main protagonist of the last episodes. Although he is not the only one who has had a lot of prominence in the last installment, his sister Eloise (Clara Jessie) has also been in the spotlight all season.

Not only Thompson has expressed his desire to explore his character, but others have too. Luke Newton, who plays Colin, has publicly said that he is very excited about everything that happens to Colin and his possible future. Although, to get him out of the way, he has also explained that Jess Brownell, the showrunner of the series, has plans for all the characters in the series, not just Benedict.

Fortunately, the speculation hasn’t lasted too long, and Netflix has already announced that Benedict will indeed be the protagonist of the fourth season.

Which book could Bridgerton season 4 be based on?

Benedict is the protagonist of the third book in Julia Quinn’s series, I Give You My Heart. His story is most interesting. Benedict falls in love with a girl at a masquerade party, but he never manages to identify who she is. Years later, he meets her again, and, without knowing her identity, he helps her when she is being attacked by some men. After this, she begins to work as a maid at the Bridgerton family’s house.

The Bridgerton season 4 release date

With the second half of the third season so recent, it’s not possible to know the exact date of season 4, but we can say when it will arrive on Netflix. Jess Brownell, the showrunner of the series, has confirmed that the series will be back on the platform in two years—in 2026, to be exact.

This makes sense because all of the Bridgerton seasons have premiered in even-numbered years. “We’re working to speed up production on the seasons, but it takes eight months to shoot, edit, and dub them into all the languages,” he explains to The Hollywood Reporter. “And the writing takes a long time, too, so we’re going at a two-year pace; we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range of years.”

Not to get your hopes up, but… It’s worth noting that in the same interview, Brownell confessed that season 4 is one of his favorites and that the writing team is doing “a fantastic job.”

Who will be on the cast of Bridgertons season 4

So far, there’s no official confirmation of who might or might not appear. Of course, the only ones we can rule out are Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke (Regé-Jean Page), whose actors have already confirmed that Seasons 1 and 2 marked the end of the series.

We’ll have to wait for Netflix to confirm the faces we already know and the new names that will join the series in the coming months. Until then, dear reader, you can watch the seasons of The Bridgerton over and over again on the Big N’s platform.
