One Piece (Netflix) Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot, Trailer & More
One Piece arrived and swept Netflix. The live-action that has broken the curse of live-action anime arrived with its first season of 8 chapters to introduce us to the first main characters of Luffy’s crew, the future King of the Pirates. Live-action adaptation of the famous manga by Eiichiro Oda , One Piece has more than a thousand chapters in both manga and anime, so there is much, much more beyond where this Netflix series has arrived. Only the audience success will be able to decide if this series, with a reported 17 million dollars per episode, continues year after year. For now, the first season has been a critical and public success so we can have confidence in the long life of this fiction. In fact, the original anime has landed on Netflix with the ‘Egghead’ arc, in chapter 1089 of the anime no less. Netflix will also be making its own remake of the One Piece anime , so there will be something to keep us entertained until the new season arrives.
One Piece Season 2 has already been confirmed. As such, we’ve pulled out our Observation Haki and started compiling everything we know, and believe, about One Piece live-action Season 2 on Netflix until more information arrives.
One Piece (Netflix) season 2 Release Date
One Piece arrived on Netflix on August 31, 2023, but we’re talking about a project that began to take shape in 2016. Of course, there were years of casting, production meetings, and modifications to be fair to the original material. And that’s without forgetting that a pandemic paralyzed filming and work around the world.
Just over two weeks later, Season 2 of One Piece on Netflix was confirmed. It also announced the arrival of a Chopper that Netflix could bring to the live-action of One Piece in three different ways. However, that the first option will be to bet on makeup and prosthetics as with the Gyojing or fish men.
It was clear, One Piece has swept the audience , and now we can activate the counter of, more or less, two years, until we can see the next season. For now, although season 2 has entered a very private filming and production already in spring 2024, there is still a long way to go. That is why, for now, we are betting on a season 2 in 2025.
One Piece (Netflix) season 2: What will happen?
We thought that Season 1 of One Piece was going to leave us on the edge of the Grand Line. However, if we look at the original material, the protagonists still had one more stop to make, Loguetown. The last shot of Season 1 shows us the arrival of Smoker, who, if everything continues as in the original story, we should meet on that island. The truth is that the Netflix adaptation is quite free in terms of space and duration, so we don’t know how compressed that will be, or if Smoker will pursue them at a different point.
We thought that season 2 was going to go all the way to Arabasta, the first big adventure and island in the series. However, Eiichiro Oda himself announced that season 2 would go until just before. That is, season 2 of One Piece will be made up of Loguetown (the last stop in the East Blue), the entrance to the Grand Line with Reverse Mountain and the giant whale Laboon, Whiskey Peak (where we could see one of Zoro’s most epic fights), Little Garden (kingdom of dinosaurs and giants) and, as a final flourish, Drum Island where we will meet another of the series’ protagonists, Chopper.
Tony Tony Chopper (simply Chopper to his friends) is a reindeer who ate a devil fruit and who will become none other than the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. And we can tell you that they definitely need one.
We’ll have to wait until Season 3 to get to Alabasta, the serious beginning of the Straw Hats’ adventures.
One Piece Netflix season 2 Cast
The series can’t exist without the Straw Hats we’ve met and they should all return. After all, the main cast has been the most praised part of the series. That includes Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Nami (Emily Rudd), Zoro (Mackenyu), Sanji (Taz Skylar) and Usopp (Jacob Romero). Surprisingly, Vice Admiral Garp (Vincent Regan) and Cadet Koby (Morgan Davis) have also been very important, along with his partner Helmeppo (Aidan Scott). However, in this second season we hope they appear a little less (to train and show a change later) and Smoker appears as the main pursuer of the Navy, whose name we still don’t know. Buggy (Jeff Ward) and Alvida (Ilia Isorelýs Paulino) should also appear again, although briefly.
Although the Netflix adaptation is quite free, we also see that it respects the heart and the skeleton of the story. Therefore, beyond secondary characters, we know that there will be main characters that will join the story. Beyond the arrival of Chopper, the other great protagonist that joins the series is Vivi, played by Charithra Chandran. Her father, the King of Arabasta, should not appear in this season if they do not reach the island, but it has already been announced. Nefertari D. Cobra will be Sendhil Ramamurthy. Meanwhile, in Drum, in addition to Chopper, we will meet Katey Sagal’s Doctor Kureha, Mark Harelik’s Doctor Hiriluk, Ty Keogh’s Dalton and Rob Colletti’s Wapol, who could be the great villain of the season. Before, in Loguetown, we will meet the fans’ favorite marine couple. Smoker will be Callum Kerr and Tashigi, Julia Rehwald. Crocus, the doctor of a legendary crew and caretaker of Laboon, will be played by Clive Russell. Brogy and Dorry, the two legendary giant captains, will be played by Brendan Murray and Werner Coester respectively.
While we don’t yet know the cast of the most important characters (perhaps they’re saving them for Season 3), we also know some of the members of Baroque Works: Mr. 5 will be Camrus Johnson; Miss Valentine, Jazzara Jaslyn; and Mr. 3, David Dastmalchian.
One Piece (Netflix) season 2: Trailer and images
For now, we only have Oda’s drawing of Chopper as a “preview” of season 2, nothing more. All you have to do is watch season 1 again on Netflix to get references, or continue reading the manga or watching the anime. But if you want to wait, as soon as there are images, trailers, teasers, posters and more, you will find them here. Just in case you have seen the series without knowing the anime, or you are nostalgic, we leave you with this video that summarizes and sets to music what we have seen in the Netflix series, but in the anime.
