Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny in New “Daggers” Sequel
After revealing the title of the new installment of the saga “Daggers in the Back” last week, it has been announced that Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny will join Daniel Craig in “Wake Up Dead Man.” Rian Johnson returns as director and screenwriter and will also produce the film alongside his partner Ram Bergman through T-Street Pictures. Although plot details are still unknown, Craig will once again play the famous detective Benoit Blanc.
Production and release dates
Production on “Wake Up Dead Man” will begin next month, and its release is scheduled for sometime in 2025. The film is the third installment in the successful saga, following the release of “Glass Onion” in 2022, which also featured Craig and was a huge hit on Netflix. The streaming service had closed a record $450 million deal for the series’ two sequels.
Trajectories of the new protagonists
Josh O’Connor, known for his Emmy-winning performance as Prince Charles in “The Crown” and his breakout role in “God’s Own Country,” can currently be seen in Luca Guadagnino’s “Rivals” alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist, as well as in “La Chimera” by Alice Rohrwacher.
On the other hand, Cailee Spaeny has been busy recently with her role in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” where she plays Elvis Presley’s wife, Priscilla Presley. She also appeared in the A24 hit film “Civil War” by director Alex Garland. Next, she will be seen in “Alien: Romulus”.
