Jennifer Lopez’s demands on Ben Affleck revealed in her divorce petition
After two years of marriage, Jennifer Lopez finally filed for divorce against Ben Affleck, whom she married on July 16, 2022, and again on August 20 of that same year, personally and without the advice of a lawyer.
According to information provided by TMZ, a media outlet that had access to the documents presented on August 20, the day the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary, celebrated in Georgia, the artist presented her formal petition before the Los Angeles Superior Court, where she did not specify whether there is a prenuptial agreement that indicates the future of the couple’s assets or the way in which they would be distributed.
Some media outlets, such as Page Six, have claimed that there was no such pact, and that, therefore, it is not true that Jennifer is asking for a million-dollar sum from her now ex.
Jlo and Ben Affleck’s $68 million mansion could be in dispute.
However, there is also speculation that there are assets acquired during the two years of marriage that are joint property, over which there could be a legal dispute. American newspapers suggest that this could include the 4,300-square-meter mansion with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, which they bought more than a year ago for 68 million dollars.

The fact is that the artist could have waived spousal support and, as her only argument, asked the judge to also deny it to Ben Affleck. In simpler words, neither is obliged to give the other any alimony or support.
According to the Daily Mail, documents show that the couple has been separated since April 26 and that divorce papers were ready since July 24. This situation would make perfect sense, considering that by the time summer started, each of them went their separate ways, with her going first to Italy and then to the Hamptons on the East Coast, while he remained in Los Angeles.
What does Jennifer Lopez want from the divorce?
According to the petition, which alleges irreconcilable differences, Jennifer Lopez’s desire is clear: to regain her freedom, as well as her maiden name, since when she got married in July 2022, in Las Vegas, she began to bear the surname Affleck.
At the time, in an interview with Vogue magazine, she mentioned, “People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs. Affleck because we are united. We are husband and wife. I am proud of it. I don’t think it is a problem,” she mentioned, indicating that she found it romantic.
The decision sparked controversy, and even a column appeared in the New York Times where she was criticized for her decision; some called her sexist.
The couple’s romanticism was left behind, and they turned to pragmatism. Another aspect that was revealed is that Lopez was deeply hurt that the actor took advantage of her trips, especially on her birthday, to take her things out of the house they shared together and close the deal for the purchase of her new home, which cost 20 million dollars.
