Drained Vampire Film: Premiering at Cannes Festival 2024
“Drained“, the new vampire film directed by Sean Cronin and Peter Stylianou, is presented in the market at the Cannes Film Festival, which takes place from May 14 to 25, 2024. This production, set in London, offers a stylized and dark vision of the genre, with a neon-noir aesthetic and contemporary themes. Images and posters have been revealed to celebrate its arrival at Cannes.
The plot of “Drained” follows Thomas, an unemployed conceptual artist who falls in love with Rhea, a mysterious woman who turns out to be a vampire. As their relationship progresses, Thomas’s health rapidly deteriorates. The script, written by Peter Stylianou, uses the figure of the vampire as a metaphor to explore addictions and the negative influences of modern life, such as social media and substance abuse.
The film features Madalina Bellariu Ion and Ruaridh Aldington in the lead roles, along with Craig Conway, Angela Dixon, and Natasha Pate . Sean Cronin and Peter Stylianou’s direction seeks to capture the essence of the streets of London, supported by an ’80s synth-inspired soundtrack similar to that of “Drive.” According to the directors, “Drained” attempts to reflect the duality of beauty and darkness in urban life.
