This is the date Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial will begin

Nearly a month after his arrest, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs returned to court to hear a judge discuss his current situation. The rapper attended a review of the charges he faces: extortion, sex trafficking and using transportation to engage in prostitution.

During the hearing, Judge Arun Subramanian, who was reassigned the case earlier this month to replace Andrew L. Carter Jr., set the trial date for May 5, 2025.

The next hearing will take place in December and either party will have until February to file any motion.

The hearing comes just one day after the music producer’s lawyers filed a new appeal seeking bail for Combs.

Puff Daddy has been held in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, for three weeks, citing fears he will “intimidate” witnesses at an upcoming hearing. The suit was “baseless,” according to documents seen by E! News.

What were Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lawyers challenging?

The complaint, filed Oct. 9, argued that Judge Carter’s denial of Combs’ earlier bail appeal was based on “speculation” and not evidence that he would actually interfere with his criminal investigation.

Combs’ attorneys , Alexandra A. E. Shapiro and Jason A. Driscoll, further argued that the rapper’s trip to New York to face his criminal charges last month, along with his proposed monitoring (which includes no access to phones, the internet, and even video surveillance when necessary) while out of custody helped support his release from jail, adding that their client is “presumed innocent.”

“He took extraordinary measures to demonstrate that he intended to confront and contest the charges, not flee,” the document filed by Combs’ attorneys says. “He submitted a bail package that would clearly prevent him from posing a danger to anyone or contacting any witnesses.”

What’s next for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs?

Despite the appeal, Judge Subramanian ruled that the rapper will remain in custody until the hearing on October 10.
