Through Vanity Fair, the first images of Rory Kinnear in the role of Tom Bombadil for the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” have been revealed. The highly anticipated new season will premiere on Prime Video on August 29, 2024, and will be available in more than 240 countries and territories.
The Second Age of Middle Earth
Tom Bombadil, a character created by JRR Tolkien, makes his debut in this adaptation after being omitted from Peter Jackson’s film trilogy. In Tolkien’s work, Bombadil is an enigmatic being who lives with his wife, Goldenberry, between the Old Forest and the Barrow Gullies. With his mysterious and incorruptible presence, Bombadil maintains a close relationship with nature and the creatures of the forest, acting as a peacemaker.
The second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” delves into the plot of the creation of the Rings of Power and the return of Sauron, who, expelled by Galadriel, must rebuild his power without an army or allies. With a narrative that immerses its characters in increasing darkness, the new installment challenges the protagonists to find their place in a world on the brink of ruin. The series explores the heroic legends of the Second Age, an era of great powers, glorious kingdoms, and unlikely heroes facing the greatest threat imagined by Tolkien.
