Maxton Hall Netflix Replacement: A Touching, Romantic 4.3/5 Star Show
Prime Video has already ordered Maxton Hall season 2, but here is an interesting proposal to liven up the wait.
Prime Video has just released a series that barely needed six episodes and a week on the platform to become one of its greatest hits in 2024. Although unexpected, the popularity of Maxton Hall: A World Among Us is not a surprise either. Based on a best-selling saga of romantic novels, the German series has once again demonstrated that ‘Young Adult’ is all the rage among young and not so young after other phenomena such as After and, more recently, the Culpables saga.
In its first week on the streaming platform, the viral series Maxton Hall has continued to gain followers among lovers of the genre, for whom the love story of Ruby and James has been a true discovery. Thus, Amazon did not take long to make a move and quickly ordered a second season.
The news has not caught anyone by surprise either, since the literary saga ‘Save’ by author Mona Kasten, of which it is adapted, consists of three books already published, and the first season of Maxton Hall only addressed the first.
Even with the guaranteed renewal, those who have surrendered at the feet of the series have an inevitable wait ahead for the premiere of season 2, so if you feel like betting on another series of this style, we have a perfect recommendation. A Netflix series that has triumphed among lovers of teenage love stories and is definitely better than Maxton Hall.
Our recommendation is Young Highnesses, a series that, unlike Maxton Hall, is not based on any book of the same name but has a lot in common with the German one. Developed by Lisa Ambjörn for the platform, the original Swedish fiction tells the story of Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding), who begins to study at the prestigious Hillerska boarding school, an elitist center in the purest Maxton Hall style, where the young royal has the opportunity to explore other facets of his personality, discover his true self, and discover what kind of life he wants, even if that inevitably means he begins to stray from his royal duties.
In Hillerska, Wilhem meets Simon (Omar Rudberg), a student who can be at Hillerska thanks to a scholarship and whose life is far removed from the world of privilege that surrounds Wilhem. A connection quickly develops between them that ends up becoming an inevitable attraction, although their story, belonging to such different universes, seems impossible. However, everything will become even more complicated when his royal highness becomes the future heir to the throne, completely unexpectedly.
With three seasons already complete—18 episodes in total—Young Highnesses is already in full on the streaming platform, so it can be seen in one go without waiting. A perfect substitute for those who have been left wanting after Maxton Hall.
