Johnny Depp Pirates Return: Will He Be Back as Jack Sparrow?
Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, has offered an update regarding Johnny Depp’s possible return as Jack Sparrow. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the producer expressed his interest in Depp’s return, whether for the future reboot or for a sixth installment of the franchise:
I love Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. If it were up to me, of course I would have a cameo. I love having Depp. He’s a great actor and a good friend. I’ve certainly talked to him, but we’ll see what happens.
Although Bruckheimer does not confirm Depp’s participation, he does make clear his enthusiasm for the return of the iconic pirate. It will not be easy since the actor already refused to return for another film in the franchise after the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge (2017) and the legal disputes with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
During his trial against Heard, Depp even declared that he would not return to the franchise even if Disney offered him $300 million and a million alpacas. However, in 2023, it was rumored that his position may have changed since then.
On the other hand, Bruckheimer has always remained optimistic about the actor’s possible return. We know that Disney is developing a reboot of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ that will feature a new cast that has not yet been announced. The reboot will be written by Ted Elliot and Craig Mazin.
