Ball of Light Illuminates Spain and Portugal: Meteorite Investigation
A ball of light illuminated the night in Spain and Portugal. On social networks, several Internet users who managed to capture the phenomenon shared videos of this unusual event, of which it has not yet been officially confirmed whether it was a meteorite.
The Portuguese newspaper Publico indicated that local Civil Protection shared on its website the record of a meteorite fall in the Castro Daire area, but soon withdrew this information.
For its part, the Europa Press news agency pointed out that this phenomenon was seen in different areas of the Iberian Peninsula, for example: Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, the Community of Madrid, Extremadura and Galicia, northern Portugal, and Lisbon.
The agency also reported that the Madrid emergency line has received several calls questioning this event, which caused “a large flash of green,” but it is still unknown what specifically this ball of light was.
The authorities of Spain and Portugal are already investigating the phenomenon to provide certainty about its origin.
On social networks, Internet users who caught it immediately pointed to it as a meteorite.
“It was impressive; it was daylight in the middle of the morning; I had seen photos of these phenomena, but I never thought it would be so beautiful,” was the statement reported by the Spanish media El Faro de Vigo from a witness.
