Olympic Medal Table Day 1: First Day Results
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games were full of excitement and exciting competitions. On the first day of finals, the first medals were awarded, highlighting moments of glory and effort from athletes from around the world. For the moment, Colombia has not made it onto the podium. However, it was a great day thanks to the qualification that Ángel Barajas achieved on the high bar in artistic gymnastics.
In road cycling, the women’s individual time trial saw Grace Brown of Australia take the gold medal, followed by Anna Henderson of Great Britain with silver and Chloe Dygert of the United States with bronze. In the men’s individual time trial, Remco Evenepoel of Belgium took gold, while Filippo Ganna of Italy won silver and Wout Van Aert, also of Belgium, took bronze.

Diving, the women’s synchronized three-meter springboard competition was dominated by Chinese athletes Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen, who won gold. Silver went to Americans Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook, and bronze to Britons Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen.
In fencing, the women’s individual épée category was won by Man Wai Vivian Kong of Hong Kong, with Auriane Mallo-Breton of France taking silver and Eszter Muhari of Hungary taking bronze. In the men’s individual sabre, Oh Sang-uk of South Korea took gold, followed by Fares Ferjani of Tunisia with silver and Luigi Samele of Italy with bronze.
Judo, the men’s -60kg category saw Kazakhstan’s Yeldos Smetov take gold, while France’s Luka Mkheidze took silver. Spain’s Francisco Garrigos and Japan’s Ryuju Nagayama won bronze. The women’s -48kg category, Japan’s Natsumi Tsunoda won gold, Mongolia’s Baasankhuu Bavuudorj took silver, and bronze went to France’s Shirine Boukli and Sweden’s Tara Babulfath.
In swimming, Lukas Martens of Germany won gold in the men’s 400-meter freestyle, followed by Elijah Winnington of Australia with silver and Kim Woomin of South Korea with bronze. In the men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay, Team USA, consisting of Ryan Held, Matt King, Hunter Armstrong, Caeleb Dressel, Jack Alexy, and Chris Guiliano, took gold. Australia won silver, and Italy took bronze. In the women’s 400-meter freestyle, Ariarne Titmus of Australia took gold, Summer Mcintosh of Canada took silver, and Katie Ledecky of the United States took bronze. In the women’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay, Team Australia, consisting of Olivia Wunsch, Bronte Campbell, Meg Harris, Emma Mckeon, Mollie O’Callaghan, and Shayna Jack, won gold, followed by the United States with silver and China with bronze.
Men’s rugby sevens, France was crowned champion by winning the gold medal, while Fiji won silver and South Africa won bronze.

Mixed 10 meter rifle competition, the Chinese team, composed of Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao, won gold. South Korea, represented by Keum Jihyeon and Park Hajun, won silver, and Kazakhstan, with Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev, took bronze.
These athletes have marked the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with impressive performances, and their achievements will be remembered as highlights of these Olympics. With many more events to come, the world is eagerly awaiting to see who will be next on the podium.
