Medellín Winless Streak: Ties 0-0 with Junior at Atanasio
Medellín and Junior were in charge of closing the day this Saturday for the BetPlay League’s third date. The powerful, who came from tying in their visit to Pereira, wanted to take the first victory in this league since on the first day they tied one goal with Millonarios. The shark, on the other hand, was looking for its second victory after beating Chicó at home.
In the first half, Junior played better, so much so that they disallowed a goal by Bacca for offside, and then the Shark team’s top scorer missed a penalty in the 26th minute. Medellín did not look good; in the first half, it did not show its best version, but in the second, it improved.
Despite Medellín’s improvement, the goals did not come true. Errors in decision-making and aim prevented the red team from moving ahead on the scoreboard, according to Brayan León and Jhon Vásquez.
Tunnels and bicycles added some excitement to a match that lacked opportunities and, as the minutes passed, lost rhythm due to fouls committed by both sides.
Time was not enough for the score to open at the Atanasio, and Medellín was once again tied. Thus, Alfredo Arias’ team is in 11th place with three points, while Junior is tenth with four points.
On Wednesday, Medellín will once again host Boyacá Chicó at the Atanasio in an early match for matchday six, but on the fourth day of the league, the powerful team will visit Cali, while Junior will host Alianza in Barranquilla.
Tomorrow, on Sunday, Bucaramanga, the champion, will host the Jaguares (3:00 pm), and Alianza will host the Millonarios (5:30 pm).
On Saturday, Once Caldas defeated Nacional and partially assumed the lead in the BetPlay League. Then, Santa Fe fell at home against Equidad, who won thanks to Felipe Acosta’s locker room goal.
