Kevin Costner Dismissive Attitude: Resilient Against Critics

The Western film ‘Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1’, which was released in June, was widely panned, but the actor has said that outsiders have underestimated him for years, so he hopes the film will stand the test of time.

During an interview with E! News, the actor said, “I’ve been through life with people who look down on me. But they can’t look down on ‘Horizon,’ because it’s not in their hands anymore. They may point to the finish line—well, that’s what it did at the box office—but I know that this movie is going to be around for the next 50 years.”

The Oscar-winning star explained that his acclaimed 1989 film ‘Field of Dreams’ was predicted to have little impact but remains “celebrated” more than 30 years after its release.

Kevin said, “It was such a bummer that ‘Field of Dreams’ didn’t catch on right away, but we still celebrate it. Men and women, sons and daughters—it’s stood the test of decades, now generations, and that’s how I try to make movies. That’s what I see for ‘Horizon.'”

‘Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 2’ was pulled from theatrical release in August following the disappointing reception of the first installment, but Kevin is not giving up on the project easily.

He said, “I don’t really fall out of love with something that I feel passionately about. You have to go in another direction; that doesn’t happen until someone convinces me otherwise. I feel like my job is to bring something original to people. And it’s very difficult to make a good Western.”
