Gunman kills two workers at factory in southwestern Germany
At least two workers were killed and a third injured Tuesday in a shooting at a factory in the German town of Bad Friedrichshall, north of Stuttgart, local authorities said.
German police said a masked man entered the company’s premises in the early afternoon and shot the men. The suspected shooter, a 52-year-old German, was arrested in the town of Seckach, about 30 kilometres to the north.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is an employee of the company where the attack took place. Other employees were present at the scene and were evacuated and questioned by the police. The homicide team has taken over the investigation.
Bad Friedrichshall mayor Timo Frey told German news agency DPA that he was shocked by the news. He said the family-run company, which makes gears, is well-known in the area and employs around 400 people.
