Diego Epifanio: “You have to chip away at the stone”

Leyma Coruña returned to the court to inaugurate a season that will always be historic for the club, its debut in the ACB. After training, the coach gave his press conference, where he explained his feelings.

“For me, as a coach, it would be great if we were at the Coliseum; the team is really looking forward to being able to train at the Coliseum,” giving the importance that it has to be able to train on what will be their court, something that for the moment they will not be able to do.

On starting to train to be ready to face the season, “the competition we face is very demanding, and we will see how we all adapt. The team has to understand that in the ACB, the game is played at a much faster pace, and the players “make decisions in less time.”.

The coach spoke about the eight players who have returned from last season: “Those who are staying have shown their commitment to the team; they have shown their desire, like Alex Hernandez, who has set the tone for what the individual demands of the category will be.”

Regarding the new players, he said that Scrubb “has his brain glued to a computer; he is a very smart player,”  regarding Figueroa, “I think he can be a surprise,”  regarding Lima, “I was lucky enough to work with Gus in Burgos; I know what he can give us in terms of energy,”  and regarding Thompkins, “he has won the Euroleague; I think that is enough.”.

The coach admits that one signing is missing—the last piece. “There is one left. I would like to bring the best player we can. From there, we will see. We have to chip away at the stone to bring the best player we can bring.”
