This is what Sebastian Stan looks like as Donald Trump: this is the first trailer for the movie “The Apprentice”
Sebastian Stan stars in the first trailer for the biopic of billionaire and former US President Donald Trump. The trailer shows the Marvel Cinematic Universe star portraying a young, up-and-coming Trump under the mentorship of Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong.
The feature film, directed by Ali Abbasi and written by Gabriel Sherman, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, and focuses on the relationship between Trump and Cohn in 1970s New York.
Cohn, known for his role as Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s lead prosecutor during the Army-McCarthy hearings, becomes Trump’s mentor, teaching him his rules for success.
The trailer shows Cohn sharing his principles with Trump: “Attack, attack, attack; admit nothing, deny everything; no matter what happens, claim victory and never admit defeat.”
Trump is also seen working on new buildings and attending high society events with Ivana Trump, played by Maria Bakalova.
In another scene, Ivana tells Donald: “Your face looks like an orange.” These inclusions in the script suggest that the political drama will not shy away from showing less flattering aspects of Trump.
According to the official description, The Apprentice portrays “a young Donald Trump eager to make a name for himself as the hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, who falls under the spell of Roy Cohn, the ruthless lawyer who would help create the Donald Trump we know today.”
The trailer also shows Trump looking at a Reagan campaign button with the slogan “Make America Great Again,” explaining the origins of his future presidential campaign.
The film will be released in select US theaters on October 11, just before the presidential election.
