Stevie Wonder Returns to Music with New Song
American singer Stevie Wonder returned to music after a four-year hiatus and called for unity through the song Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart?
In this new ballad, the singer-songwriter calls for solutions to problems like poverty and hatred and wonders if we are brave enough to try to fix the “broken heart of our nation.”
Universal released a statement saying that with this new song, Stevie Wonder “maintains his lifelong commitment to breaking down walls and bringing people together.”
“Backed by an acoustic guitar and a steady beat, this anthem provides the rhythm and chorus for an essential reminder: We are a family,” the producer said.
The legacy of Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder, 74, is also known for his philanthropic activities. In 1983, he led the proclamation of Martin Luther King Day as a national holiday, and his song Happy Birthday became the anthem of the movement.
The American singer-songwriter and activist, celebrated in popular music, has won 25 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar.
It is worth remembering that at the age of 12, Stevie Wonder became the youngest artist to reach number 1 with Fingertips, Part 2 and was the first to simultaneously achieve this milestone on the Billboard Hot 100, R&B Singles, and Album Charts.
With more than 100 million records sold, her legacy includes multiple hits, including Isn’t She Lovely (1976), Superstition (1972), and I Just Called to Say I Love You (1984), among others.
