Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Weekend Box Office: $129 Million Gross

129 million (always) dollars. ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ has grossed some 129 million in its first weekend in theaters around the world, 13 of them exclusively in IMAX theaters. A result very similar to that of ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ in 2017…despite the fact that China is no longer what it was for North American cinema and it has barely been able to add 11 million there.

The slightly more than 56 million that it has grossed in 4,075 theaters in the United States places it as the fourth best premiere of the year. Furthermore, it serves to inaugurate the cinematic summer (even if it is a week late).

At the moment, the franchise seems to continue to enjoy good health, not only artistically, although in the coming weeks we will see if it is capable of exceeding the 490 million that the previous installment raised—without the support of China, where it raised 112 million.

Like practically everywhere else in the world, Wes Ball’s film has been the star of the weekend in US, where it has raised almost 80 million. Since’Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire ‘premiered‘ at the end of March, a premiere has not been able to reach such records…
