Top spot: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” remains at the top of the US box office

The anime adaptation of the Japanese manga, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Infinity Castle,” continues to dominate the American box office, where it was the most-watched film this weekend, taking in $17.3 million.

The film has already accumulated 99 million dollars in the United States, for a total of 555 million worldwide, according to data from the specialized website Box Office Mojo .

This comes amid statements from Mitchel Berger, vice president of global commerce for the anime streaming platform Crunchyroll , that this first part of the trilogy that will narrate the final arc of the manga will only be available in theaters, as it will not be released on the platform this year.

In second place was ”Him”, a horror story set in the world of sports and directed by Justin Tipping , which earned $13.5 million in its first weekend in theaters.

In third place is “The Conjuring: Last Rites” with $13 million, bringing its domestic takings to $151 million and worldwide to $399 million.

Meanwhile, “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale ,” the third and final feature-length spin-off from the hit British series, added $6.3 million for a worldwide box office total of $59.5 million.

Rounding out the weekend’s top 5 is “The Long Walk,” a dystopian teen adventure adapted from a Stephen King novel , with $6.3 million, bringing its total since its release ten days ago to $25.5 million.
