TOni Kroos will live his twentieth classic on Sunday since he landed at Real Madrid in 2014. There has been a bit of everything in those 19 games for the German, who in any case ensures that there is always a special feeling before playing a game “that looks Worldwide”.
The moment of Madrid
“We live a good time that comes from a lot of work in the last 8 or 9 months. There are always good times, sometimes more complicated, at the moment we are very good, but we know that in football that can change very quickly. We have to be vigilant and keep working.”
Sunday’s game
“The Clsico is going to mark it a bit the way we have on that day, because you can’t say that one team has less quality than the other. They are two very good teams and it always depends a bit on the day. In the tactical aspect, the idea we have is going to be very important, of course, but many times these matches are decided by the details. For our part, we have to continue as we are doing, play very seriously knowing how important this match is, apart from for the League, for our fans. We have to prepare well, defend very seriously and up top we are always going to do somethingbut these games are marked by details and you can’t know what’s going to happen”.
Its 20 classic
“It’s still special. It always has been. I remember very well my first Clsico here, in 2014, a 3-1. You always remember the first Clasico, even more so if you win it. It shows a lot in the team and how important this game is and we go with a lot of motivation. You just have to see how many people watch the Classic in the world. That says everything. Everybody is waiting for this match every season and so are we.. Sometimes important players from one team and the other come out, but a Madrid-Barcelona match will always be special”.
The Bernabu factor
“It’s always there. There is a ‘feeling’, a special sensation when more important games arrive and it has also been noticed this season, but as always. I remember many games at the Bernabu in the last 8 years, such as Champions League quarters and semis, and the fans have given us a lot of energy. A match like the one on Sunday, a Clasico, is also a final. I remember very well the Clasico from 2 years ago because later we played a year and a half without fans and it was a special game that we won with two goals in the second half. Hopefully they will help us on Sunday too.”
351 games with Madrid
“For me they are very nice numbers to play so many games with the best club in the world, but in the end they are numbers. I want to continue doing well, continue winning things. I prefer to count the titles than the matches. I will continue with the same desire as the last 8 years”.
