The Liga MX Femenil has announced, through social networks, that the match of matchday 1 between the Monterrey and the Female Roosters it will be postponed. The match that had a date for Monday, January 10, will be rescheduled for next February 21, 2022.
The Liga Femenil made the announcement without giving any explanation: “The Liga BBVA Femenil informs that the match between Striped Y Female Roosters corresponding to day 1 of # GritaMéxico Clausura 2022 will be rescheduled ”.
The reason is unknown, but everything points to Covid-19. The Monterrey Women made a statement on December 24 in which it was confirmed that part of the staff and coaching staff had tested positive for coronavirus after performing the tests.
The multiple cases of Covid-19 in the Espejo squad leads to a disadvantage with the rest of the teams, since they have not trained and prepared for the season since the positives were confirmed. The Striped They have at least 16 infected players and their technical director, so depending on the evolution of the team they can begin to return to the field.
Following the new Liga MX sanitary regulations implemented at the end of last month, a game can be rescheduled if a team presents 10 or more cases of COVID: “In terms of rescheduling matches, if a club has between 7 and 10 registered players in the category with positive cases, their match may be rescheduled within the same matchday. And a match can only be rescheduled for another matchday if the Club has 10 or more Covid-19 positive players “.
The current champions of Liga MX will have to wait for their debut in the Clausura 2022. This beginning will be on January 16 when they kick off the tournament. The Striped they will face him Puebla Women as a visitor at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium.
