Jan Kuchta was born in Prague (8-1-1997). In the streets of his hometown it is easy to find these days with banners on emblematic buildings demanding Russia and Putin to get their hands out of Ukraine. The Czech Republic’s double scorer in this edition of the League of Nations has his home in the Russian capital. In Prague, Kuchta scored against Switzerland and made it 2-1 against Spain with a precious Vaseline to Unai Simón.
Formed in the inferiors of Sparta, it was in Slavia where he became the player he is today and that he reached the national team in October 2021. Last winter, the Moscow Lokomotiv signed him. A few weeks after his arrival in the Russian capital, the Kremlin gave the order to invade the Ukraine. He signed until 2026 and at the end of May he left Russia to join his national team.
Return? It is a question that is in the air. He has a valid contract and has always said that the treatment he received since he arrived at the Russian Railways Club was excellent. But war stirs consciences and the player’s representative has already explained that it would be best to find a solution. “If an offer arrives, it is clear that we have to study it,” says Milan Martinovic.
One of the measures that FIFA took because of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine was to pallow foreign players who are in Russia and Ukraine to break their contracts.
Kuchta’s goals and play in this Nations League are a passport to leave Russia.
