Lace Athletic elections have a third candidate since last Sunday in the figure of Jon Uriarte. The working group of the Bilbao businessman presented himself through social networks at the end of the Pizjun match because they did not want to divert the focus of attention from the sporting. The table was more than consolidated, but everyone decided that it was best to leave it for after LaLiga. The delay in staging has been detrimental because they will start with a week of delay the collection of the 2,016 endorsements that guarantee the condition of applicant for president. The Izan Athletic candidacy will officially see the light of day on Wednesday morning with a press conference for the candidate.
Jon Uriarte is a 43-year-old businessman from Bilbao who has Athletic as one of his passions and concerns. Educated at the University of Deusto, where he graduated in Business Administration and Management and completed a Master’s degree, he began his professional career as an analyst at Merrill Lynch before joining Morgan Stanley, where he worked on mergers, acquisitions and private banking. During that period he met Ander Michelena, also a loyal Athletic fan, with whom he founded Ticketbis, a company that a few years later was acquired by Ebay for 165 million euros. He currently participates in several companies, being the founder of All Iron Group and Lbere.
Izán Athletic intends to carry out a different campaign and, above all, away from confrontation. The plan is very defined and they promise to go straight ahead. Already they did it on Monday, when a few hours before the vote on the Reform of Statutes they advocated the s of the delegates, which is an issue on which Ricardo Barkala and Iaki Arechabaleta did not speak out. “The Club needs to modernize itself in order to be able to look to the future with solidity and in this process it is essential to have Statutes that reflect the current reality”, they launched asking for support for the reform worked on by the commission chaired by Aitor Elizegi and made up of Ana Urquijo, Aner Uriarte, Gorka Cubes and Josu Arteta.
In the pfirst public appearance since announcing his participation in the elections the candidate has surrounded himself with his closest core. “Past, present and future. Jon Uriarte, accompanied by his athleticzale environment, has approached Ibaigane to take the ballots in which we will collect the signatures to endorse our candidacy,” they relate in the RRSS of the candidacy.
