JJuan Ignacio Martínez is living his last days as coach of Real Zaragoza. The coach from Alicante will direct his last game at La Romareda on the local bench this Friday. It will be his farewell to the Zaragoza fans. It wasn’t the best ending, but I’m sure they’ll appreciate your work, especially last season.
JIM took a dead team and miraculously brought it back to life, when relegation to Segunda B was more real than ever. A formidable performance that earned him to continue one more course. His credit with Zaragoza has been reduced over the days, but, at least, he has saved the team with three games in advance.
He has always made it clear that he did not come to save him but to promote him. He will leave with that thorn in his side, but with the squad he had, he couldn’t aspire to much more either. JIM will give his witness to a coach that the club considers capable of taking him to the highest category.
The zaragocismo will say goodbye to him against Lugo, although he will still have one more game to play as white-collar coach next week against Real Sociedad B. JIM will say goodbye after a great effort and already with a feeling from Zaragoza in this year and a half at the head of the Aragonese team. Another end of era.
