Joan Dunne, her mother, wrote a memoir Blue Nights dedicated to Quintana. In the memoir, Joan claimed her daughter died of acute pancreatitis.

However, all were aware of Quintana’s alcohol addiction, and according to her mother, she took alcohol as a remedy for depression and anxiety.

And, as per The U.S National Library of Medicine report that about 70 percent of acute pancreatitis is due to alcoholism or alcohol abuse.

Dunne died at the age of 39 after being admitted to the intensive care unit for months following complications from pneumonia, then septic shock, an induced coma, a brain bleed, result of abdominal infections.
