The Armed forces All over the world they have a huge variety of weaponry, but they have nothing that can compare to fighter jets. These aircraft have been indispensable in all the war scenarios after his own invention. In fact, get the air superiority is one of the central objectives of either side in the arms race.
However, the constant innovations in weaponry and aeronautical engineering make it virtually impossible to permanently beat the pulse. A country can today have the better technology and preparation…but a new creative leap can make that same technology obsolete and a second country take the lead.
Which country has the best fighters?
In all the rankings they explore which are the best fighter jets in the world, the same four names are always repeated. The F-35, the F-22 Raptor, the Chengdu J-20 “Mighty Dragon” and the Sukhoi Su-57 are always mentioned. In fact, a few weeks ago this same newspaper published a list of the 10 best combat fighters… and these were the four aircraft that topped the list (and also in this same order). These planes are the jewel in the crown of some of the most powerful armies in the world:
The F-35
He F-35 Lightning II fighter It is often considered the most advanced and effective combat aircraft on the planet. Its manufacturer, the American Lockheed Martin, is also the company that produces the F-22. Although -unlike what happens with this latest model- the F-35 can be exported. And in fact it is exported (prior authorization from the United States Congress, clear). To this day, among the countries that have F-35 troops we can list USA, South Korea, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Poland, UK, Finland, Germany. Although other countries, such as Singapore, Romania and Greece, have already started talks to acquire some of these fighters this 2023.
The F-22 Raptor
The F-22 Raptor fighter -for its part- is an exception in the catalog of armament American, because it is one of the few products of the arms industry from this country that cannot be exported under US federal law; which could be indicative that this aircraft has additional technology that must remain confidentialfor reasons of national security.
Chengdu J-20 “Mighty Dragon”
The Chinese government guards suspicion and secrecy many of the technical and operational details of this aircraft. However, the available information on the weaponry and technology integrated into the Chengdu J-20 necessarily places it a top of the list. Although – as often happens when the Chinese Communist Party is involved – there are many accusations of espionage in the development of the plane … as well as many doubts about its true capabilities. The authorities of the Chinese Air Force have already assured on more than one occasion that the Chengdu J-20 will not be available on the international market and that it will remain a purely Chinese aircraft.
Sukhoi Su-57
As is the case with the fifth generation aircraft Chinese, the true capabilities of the Russian fighter -known in NATO as “Felon”- are also not very clear. In fact, it is not being seen too much in the conflict in Ukraine, which anyone would say is the perfect setting to show the world the benefits of its technology. For now, his appearances have been very timid… little more than rumors. According to the information offered by the intelligence services of NATO member countries, the Su-57 is indeed participating in the conflict, but without risking too much of putting itself in the line of fire; which could mean that -in reality- the true capacities of the russian fighter plane could have been seriously exaggerated.
eurofighter typhoon
This fighter plane was developed jointly by Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. And unlike the F-35 or F-22, this one isn’t fifth-generation; so, for many military experts it shouldn’t even really be in the discussion of “what is the best fighter in the world”. That being said, the Eurofighter does has shown what it can do really (unlike others) and has already proven its reliability. This combat plane is in the hangars of the Air Forces of its creators, that is, of Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom; but it has also been exported to other countriessuch as Austria, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar.
In conclusion, if we ask ourselves which country (or countries) have best fighter jets of the world, the only valid answer must be United States and its allies. The truth is that the only fighters that can deal with the F-35 Lightning II, are either in the hangars of the United States and its allies…. or they have not yet shown what they are made of, as is the case with fifth generation fighter aircraft from China and Russia.
