The season of leaks of the upcoming smartphone models begins. It happens with almost all manufacturers, from Apple, to OnePlus or Google itself, as on this occasion: the First images of the Google Pixel 8 Proshowing a mysterious new sensor in the camera bar.
Initially published by OnLeaks and SmartPrix, the photos show a design quite similar to the Pixel 7 Pro but with some obvious… and welcome changes. For one thing, the phone seems to have largely abandoned its curved screen which is appreciated due to the discomfort to maneuver the device. Added to this are much thinner bezels compared to previous Google models, although for now, as these are models, it is a detail that could change.
But most intriguing is the addition of a new sensor in the camera bar. While the device maintains the same triple-camera array as the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, on the right side is a fourth sensor. For now its function is not very clearAlthough there are numerous speculations. From a new autofocus system, to a macro or depth sensor to a LIDAR sensor (acronym for Light Detection And Ranging, a technology that allows measuring the distance between a sensor and an object).
Another conclusion that can be drawn from the images is that the latest model is a bit smaller in size, even though it has a 6.52-inch screen (against the 6.7 of the Pixel 7). Finally, the Pixel 8 Pro would carry the new Tensor G3 processor (a customized version of the Exynos 2300 for Google) that has not yet been made public.
Regarding its release date, it will most likely take place in October, as has been the custom in the brand so far. As for prices, seeing the previous models, the figures would be around 900 euros.
