Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota) won the fourth stage of the Dakar, disputed between Al Qaisumah and Riyadh, after the Dakar organization imposed a two-minute sanction on Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive Toyota) for speeding, which made him drop his plan of “not opening track tomorrow.”
“Day by day we advance on the right track. We have tried to set a good pace today, but our intention was not to open tomorrow because there will be no bikes ahead and, therefore, we will not have tracks to guide us, “he said after the stage.
“It was not easy because we ran into several cars at the beginning of the special and we decided not to take too many risks. The last part of the special was very difficult, especially the part in the river area, which required a lot of navigation. Matthieu (Baumel, his co-driver) has done a great job and the truth is that I am very satisfied ”, he commented.
Al-Attiyah leads the overall in cars with 38 minutes and 5 seconds ahead of Frenchman Sebastien Loeb.
