The Venezuelan Foreign Minister attacks the Biden Democracy Summit, which has not invited the Maduro government
, Dec 10 () –
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Felix Plasencia, on Thursday called the United States “arrogant” for believing that it is “the only judge that can determine what” a democracy is.
This has been expressed by the head of Venezuelan diplomacy in an intervention at the World People’s Congress for Peace, an appointment in which he has responded in this way regarding the Democracy Summit organized by the Administration of the US president, Joe Biden, to which the Government of Nicolás Maduro has not been invited.
“Once again, they demonstrate their arrogance by deciding that in a world of such diverse realities and thoughts, it can become the only judge state that can determine what a democracy is and what is not,” the minister specifically stated. Venezuelan media Globovisión.
For his part, the Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó has proposed this Thursday on the occasion of the Summit the creation of a “multilateral unified front” with which to hold the Maduro government responsible for “the crimes committed”, while seeking “an inclusive and negotiated political solution” to get out of the crisis, among other issues.
On the other hand, the Maduro government has also attacked Washington for its announced diplomatic boycott of the Winter Olympics in China, which for Caracas represents a “desperate but alarming act.”
“(The boycott) is part of the smear and manipulation campaign undertaken by a small group of countries against the indefensible development of the Chinese sister nation and demonstrates the anachronistic vision of these governments that still maintain their vision of the Cold War”, the Venezuelan Executive has condemned in a statement published by its Foreign Ministry.
