EITHERMar Alderete confirmed around midnight this Tuesday the news that MARCA had announced at noon. Valencia had already decided that it was not going to exercise the purchase option agreed with Hertha Berlin and that it had to become effective before June 30. The Paraguayan center-back, who is on vacation in his country after playing several international matches, wrote a goodbye message on his Instagram account: “I am delighted with the club, with the people, with the city! I have no more than thank everyone for how they received me and for the love they gave me and give me since I arrived. To the people of the club, to my teammates, to the friends I made! I would have loved to continue, but unfortunately football has these things. I sincerely wish the club all the best from now on! See you soon and Amunt Valencia”.
Alderete arrived at Valencia last summer market on loan from Hertha in Berlin with a purchase option of 7.5 million euros that was only mandatory if two conditions were met: that the player reached the figure of 25 official matches and that the team will qualify for Europe. By not reaching the second objective, Valencia had to decide before June 30 whether to make the purchase option effective.
Alderete, an expeditious left-footed centre-back, had arrived at Valencia with the approval of José Bordals, who had met him in a Europa League match between Getafe and Basel. But he is not a center-back -according to what the footballer’s environment has told him- of the cut that Gennaro Gattuso likes the most. Alderete is forceful in the brand, but he is not a central player who stands out for his speed. This, together with the 7.5 million euros, an amount that in the current economy of Valencia -until it does not sell players- is prohibitive, they have tipped the balance towards no.
On the other hand, the Paraguayan player already had proposals from several LaLiga clubs, so it seems quite likely that he will continue in Spain next season if the interest of Villarreal and Betis, among others, is confirmed.
After the publication of the message on Instagram, Alderete has received farewell responses from colleagues such as Toni Lato or Hugo Duro. Precisely, the Getafe striker knows that he is the only one on loan for whom Valencia made the purchase option of 4 million euros effective.
