The total number of hospitalized in the country is 17,988, about 700 more than the previous day, although the number of patients in need of respiratory assistance has fallen from 911 to 855 in the last 24 hours.
With these data, the country already has 149,515 deaths and more than 14 million infected since the declaration of the crisis.
These figures are released a day after it was announced that the United Kingdom Government will eliminate the requirement of a negative COVID-19 diagnostic test to enter the country and travelers will not have to isolate themselves on arrival until they obtain the result of a PCR.
In an appearance, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson justified that some of the restrictions imposed when the omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 was discovered now have “limited impact”, given that the mutation is increasingly prevalent in the world. country.
For this reason, it has decided to abolish the requirement to arrive in the country with a negative diagnostic test, a measure that will take effect on Friday at 4:00 a.m. (local time). Regarding the isolation until obtaining a PCR, the British Government has replaced this test with a rapid test, which will have to be carried out no more than two days after arriving in the United Kingdom. If it is positive, they would have to resort to a PCR.
