These are the 20 jobs most threatened by artificial intelligence

A group of professors from the universities of New York, Princeton and Pennsylvania have published a study in which they analyze the impact of language models like ChatGPT on various professions and industries. The work by Ed Felton (Princeton), Manav Raj (Pennsylvania), and Robert Seamans (New York), which has yet to be peer-reviewed, is titled “How will language models like ChatGPT affect occupations and industries? ?” and concludes that if anyone has reason to worry, it is telemarketers and teachers in the first case and legal services in the secondalthough they’re not the only ones.

Recent advances in AI capabilities like ChatGPT raise the question of how they will affect the economy in the future and in what professions they will be employed. According to the authors of the paper, “the main occupations exposed to language modeling include telemarketers and a variety of teachers of post-secondary English language and literature, foreign language and literature, and history. We find that the main industries exposed to advances in language modeling are the legal services, raw materials and investments”.

The researchers have used a methodology that they developed in 2018 to estimate the professional occupations that had changed the most due to advances in artificial intelligence between 2010 and 2015.

As Seamans explained on his Twitter account, “the key idea was to map 10 areas where AI was advancing (image recognition, speech recognition, language modeling, abstract strategy games, etc.) to 52 skills used in occupations.”

The key insight was to map 10 areas in which AI was advancing (image recognition, speech recognition, language modeling, abstract strategy games, etc) to 52 abilities used in occupations.

The influence of artificial intelligence was contrasted in more than 800 professions made by humans to obtain a AIOC, AI Occupational Exposure score or AI occupational exposure score. The higher the number, greater risk of automation with artificial intelligence has that profession.
