The United States Senate has blocked this Wednesday the vaccination plan against COVID-19 directed at private companies with 100 or more employees that the Biden Administration proposed in September in an attempt to stop the spread of the omciron variant of coronavirus in the country .
The Upper House of the United States Congress, which only needed a simple majority to pass the Congressional Review Act, which allows to revoke the proposals of federal agencies, has finally ruled out the vaccination plan thanks to the support of several Democrats to the Republican forces, including Senators Jon Tester and Joe Manchin.
The vote, which has fallen on the Republican side with 52 votes to 48, has resulted in the measure being discarded and having little chance of succeeding, also taking into account that a federal court has already stopped the vaccination requirements for private companies of more than 100 employees.
Republicans reject this vaccination plan because they allege that it can “harm small businesses as they try to survive the pandemic.”
“The worst thing we can do is tie our hands behind our back and let these new variants spread and grow (…) but that is what the anti-vaccines promoted by the republicans do,” denounced the leader of the Senate majority, Democrat Chuck Schumer, according to ‘CNBC’.
