Although the Ukrainian territory is the battlefield in which Russia tries to win the game against the West and NATO, which are giving their full support to the Kiev authorities to expel the invader, the war is being waged in every corner of the planet and the European sky has become, in recent weeks, an important stage.
Last week two Russian fighters downed a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea and just a few days ago a Russian Su-35 fighter intercepted a pair of US B-52H bombers over the Baltic. But the United States seems unwilling to lose the battle for the European skies and some photos have been made public in which another American B-52 nuclear bomber can be seen flying over the old continent flanked by six NATO fighters, in formation of V. The planes that flank the giant of the USAF are F-16 from Romania, Eurofighter Typhoon from Italy and F-18 from the Spanish Air Force and Space.
These images are clearly a show of force by the United States and the Atlantic Alliance against Vladimir Putin. “The B-52s are training with the Allied Air Forces during their BTF (Bomber Task Force) mission strengthening our Euro-Atlantic partnership,” NATO said.
The video would have been recorded from the cockpit of one of the two Stratofortress bombers and shows the flight above the clouds together with the Spanish, Italian and Romanian planes. It is unknown where or when the images were recorded.
The video comes in full tension between Russia and European countries. In fact, just yesterday Russia warned Britain about plans to potentially arm Ukraine with anti-tank shells containing depleted uranium. Moscow is furious over the plan and its foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has denounced it as “genocide” and another warning of a “nuclear collision”.
