The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, received a booster dose of the COVID-19 Sputnik V vaccine this Monday, as reported by the Presidential Medical Unit in part.
Likewise, the president has published on his Twitter profile a photo of the moment in which they have applied the third vaccine – after being inoculated with the first dose in January and with the second in February – and has called the population to get vaccinated and access booster doses.
“It is important that each and every one of us complete the schemes and give ourselves the reinforcements to sustain this epidemiological situation and continue to grow. Do not hesitate, get vaccinated,” he wrote on the social network.
More than 80 percent of the population of the South American country has received the two doses of the initial scheme of the vaccine against COVID-19, while the Government finalizes the details to establish the health pass that will be applied nationally in massive events or places closed, among other situations, reports the news agency Télam.
In addition, the country detected this Sunday its first case of the omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 in Argentina in a traveler from South Africa, as announced by the Ministry of Health, which confirmed that this person had tested negative in tests carried out before the travel and immediately upon arrival.
Argentina accumulates more than 5.3 million cases of COVID-19 and 116,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
