Those responsible for the secret services of Morocco and the United States have held a summit in the North American country to discuss, among other issues, the fight against terrorism and organized crime in various areas, such as the Sahara and the Sahel.
The Rabat delegation was headed by the General Director of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, who held working meetings with Avril Hainse, Director of US National Intelligence; William Burns, Director of the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency); and Christopher WrayDirector of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation).
These talks, according to Moroccan sources, focused on the various security threats and new dangers at the regional and international levels, “as well as in the mechanisms and means capable of dealing with these risks in accordance with a common and collective vision capable of guaranteeing security and international peace.”
Hammouchi also discussed with US intelligence and security officials the various security challenges and threats posed by terrorist groups and organized crime networks in many parts of the world, particularly in the Sahel, the Sahara, the Middle East and Europe”.
“Virtual operations” linked to the fight against the terrorist threat and organized crime, particularly in its cybernetic form and its transnational links, were also discussed.
“This visit demonstrates the importance of bilateral security cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, as key partners in international efforts to ensure security and stability,” according to the same sources.
