The Russian authorities have reported this Saturday of almost 33,000 cases of coronavirus and more than 1,200 deaths during the last 24 hours, figures practically identical to those of the day before and slightly higher than those registered earlier this week.
In a statement, the national operational center for the fight against the pandemic has indicated that since yesterday 32,974 infections and 1,216 deaths have been added in 85 regions throughout the country. This includes 2,232 asymptomatic cases, 6.8 percent of those detected since Friday.
In total, there are already more than 9.7 million cases registered since the beginning of the pandemic, although this constitutes an increase of 0.34 percent compared to the previous day. Most of the new infections have been detected in the Russian capital (3,356), in Saint Petersburg (2,528) and in the province of Moscow (2,075).
The total death toll, on the other hand, stands at 278,857, of which 93 have been detected in Moscow and another 57 in Saint Petersburg.
However, 35,182 people have been discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours, so that there are already 8,471,813 people who have managed to recover from the disease caused by the virus.
A total of 1,710,657 people are still listed as suspected cases across the country.
