The Government of Portugal has approved this Tuesday the vaccination for children between 5 and 11 years old, in an attempt to increase the immunization rate after the General Directorate of Health recommended the inoculation of minors of this age group.
The Ministry of Health has indicated that almost 638,000 children will now be eligible for inoculation against the coronavirus. The vaccine that will be administered to minors will be that of Pzifer, the only one that has the approval of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), reports ‘Publico’.
This same Tuesday, health authorities have confirmed that more than 1.6 million booster vaccines have already been administered, after some 58,000 were applied in the last 24 hours.
Portugal is experiencing an upturn in infections that has led it to introduce new measures to cope with the worsening figures, which have registered an increase in incidence in the last seven days, which has gone from 100 per 100,000 inhabitants to 228.
