According to witnesses, several explosions would have occurred today at an air base located on the Crimean peninsula, illegally occupied and annexed by Russia in 2014. The events would take place in the vicinity of the town of Hvardiyske and the bombers would be deployed at the attacked airfield Su-24M. Local residents have shared several images and claim that the deflagrations were so strong that the windows were shaking.
The first reports speak of a possible attack with suicide drones by the Ukrainian armed forces. For their part, the authorities in the area have wanted to reassure the residents and have announced that the anti-aircraft defense forces had worked, which would be clear proof that the attack had taken place.
“In the Hvardiyske area of the Crimea, the air defense system worked.” This was reported by the head of the administration of the rural settlement of Hvardiyske, Ihor Chychkin.
As previously reported by the Ukrainian News Agency, on March 24, Defense Intelligence representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Yusov said that the occupiers are actively evacuating their families from temporarily occupied Crimea and selling real estate in the peninsula.
With these attacks, the Kyiv government not only intends to strike against the Russian bombers that are launching attacks on Ukrainian territory, but also to demonstrate its ability to hit any target, even if it is far from the front lines.
