The Islamic State encourages Chechen Muslims fighting on the Russian side against Ukraine to defect and join the franchise of this jihadist gang in the Caucasus, according to a proclamation published in one of the terrorist group’s magazines. The article is titled “a message from the heart for our Muslim brothers in Ukraine” and urges Muslims to abandon Putin’s army, since they are troops commanded by infidels.
From the beginning of the war, the Russians had the unconditional support of Chechnya and its troops, made up mainly of Muslims. Sadly famous for their ferocity and for not respecting the general principles of war as far as prisoners and wounded are concerned. These are groups that have historically been marked by their expeditious nature, by their efficiency on the battlefield. The operation being carried out in Ukraine follows this profile. It is part of their historical DNA in terms of their performance on the battlefield,” according to international experts in the field. “Unlike the Wagner group, which moves more like a paramilitary structure, the Chechens have integrated into the Army Russian to the extent that the Chechen Republic is part of the Russian Federation”,
The Islamic State article also condemns Muslim officials who side with Russia; consider, in any case, that both are on the wrong side. They underline the jihadist record of Chechen Muslims in the past and their contribution to the jihad in Syria. What it is about, they add, is to support the Islamic State against those who oppose the achievement of a “global caliphate”.
The cover image of the article shows the jihadists who committed the attacks of November 2015 in Paris: Abu Umar Al-Belgiki; Abul Qa’Qa’ Al-Belgiki; Abu Mujahid Al-Belgium; Abu Fu’ad Al-France; Abu Rayyan Al-France; Abu Qital Al-Feransi; Dhul-Qarnayan Al-Feransi; Ukasah Al-Iraqi and Ali Al-Iraqi, Memri reports.
