Former US Vice President Mike Pence has attacked this Saturday against the former president donald trumpassuring that “history will hold him responsible” for the assault on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“President Trump was wrong. He had no right to overturn the (2020) election result and his reckless words endangered my family and everyone on Capitol Hill that day, and I know history will hold Donald Trump accountable,” the former vice president declared during a speech reported by the US media.
Pence has described January 6, 2021, the date on which a violent mob of Trump supporters attacked the headquarters of the US Congress, as “a tragic day”.
Likewise, it has stressed that “tourists do not injure 140 policemen when they are sightseeing”, nor “do they break down doors to reach the president of the Chamber or make threats against public officials”.
Trump has already declared his intention to run for the White House again in the 2024 election, but Pence — who has so far not made a formal announcement — He has hinted this Saturday his interest in presenting himself.
“I will wholeheartedly and unreservedly support the Republican candidate for the Presidency in 2024… if it’s me,” he declared, as reported by the Bloomberg agency.
