ANDhe Appeals Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has dismissed the appeal filed by Getafe against the one-match ban imposed on Jorge Cuenca for Competition.
The under-21 international defender was sanctioned after seeing the direct red in the match against Alavs with a one-match suspension and a fine of 600 euros for the player and 350 for the club, which in its appeal indicates that there is a manifest material error in the arbitration report.
It stated that Jorge Cuenca was sent off in the 31st minute for “make a tackle with the studs on the leg of an opposing player in the dispute for the ball. The opposing player continues to play the game after being treated by the medical services”.
Getafe considers that according to their version of the images their player “dispute the ball fairlybeing the Deportivo Alavs player (Edgar) the one who touches the ball first, and immediately afterwards Jorge Cuenca in the movement of his leg from bottom to top” “and does not reach the ball in thousandths of a second, so it hits the leg of the opponent, but in no case with the studs in front, not being a serious sudden entry or with excessive force”.
Appeal does not share this statementjust as it does not understand, as Getafe appreciates, that there has been an improper classification of the infraction that is included in the minutes and in the Competition resolution.
Therefore, Jorge Cuenca will not be able to play the game against Espanyolfor whom Carles Ale and the Uruguayan Damin Surez are also absent due to the accumulation of warnings.
