andrrao came to this Final Four very just after overcoming an injury, but was once again decisive. His was the goal of the game. A bit of a heel that definitively put Bara in the clash. With nine minutes to go, he received the ball outside the area and, instead of turning, beat Andr Sousa with his heel.
“They were defending very tight so I had to try something different which luckily worked“, acknowledged the Barça pvot. It is not the first important goal from the Brazilian, who in 2019 scored a goal against Jan with 20 seconds remaining in the Copa del Rey final. It was the goal that unbalanced the balance for his team.
“We never stop believing”
At the break it seemed that Bara had almost impossible to play the end of the week. A 3-0 against Benfica seemed almost definitivebut then the best Bara appeared, the one with the great moments, to turn the match around.
“It was very difficult, not because of us but because of the rival entity. It’s not easy to come back from a team like Benfica, but if you believe and you’re lucky you can score a lot of goals. We have believed in ourselves and we have achieved it”, stressed Jess Velasco.
The coach acknowledged that at the break he saw it as very complicated: “It’s what we talked about in the break, we were out and there were 20 minutes left. You had to go with everything to try to come back. The players believed, Matheus’ goal gave us a lot of confidence and then we played a spectacular game”.
Ferrao acknowledged that they did not expect a first part like that. “We knew it was going to be very difficult, but we didn’t expect to be three goals down at the break.. But we never stopped believing that a comeback was possible and we got the prize. It’s been peak.”
