A Chelsea legend is back: John Terry, the legendary former captain of the ‘blues’, has taken up a position as technical advisor at the club’s academy. Terry, who played 717 games for Chelsea and is one of the greatest legends in their history, will work with players and coaching staff on the youth development program. This was announced this Wednesday by Chelsea.
“As if working on the pitch, our former captain will contribute to technical discussions with the other coaches, mentor the young players at the academy and support dialogue with their parents,” Chelsea said in their statement.
Terry retired as an active footballer in 2018 and as a coach began gaining experience helping out at Aston Villa between 2018 and 2021. The 41-year-old former Chelsea and England defender will start his new job this January.
For Chelsea fans John Terry was, is and always will be ‘one of us’. With the ‘blue’ shirt he won 5 Premier Leagues and 5 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, the 2021-12 Champions League (due to suspension, he did not play in the final), a Europa League and 2 Community Shields. Terry was also captain of the English team, with which he played 78 games and scored 6 goals.
