ORnot of the captains of the squad, fundamental in the final part of the championship and throughout the year, despite his injury that kept him away from the pitch, Joseph Mari has taken stock of a season that was crooked at the beginning but straightened out after the arrival of Sergio Gonzalez.
“It has been a difficult season in many aspects, with many ups and downs, not finding the key at the beginning of the season, with many changes… The team has remade itself, has continued to believe and has managed to stay in the First Division,” he admitted to the official media of the club. “We can say that the balance has been very positive. We have achieved the objective with the difficulty that it entails”, a permanence for the third consecutive time in the highest national competition.
No one escapes the fact that José Mari is a key player in the gearing and operation of the team and also of the locker room. That is why he does not hesitate to recognize the bad moments experienced at the beginning of the campaign with Cervera on the bench. “Unfortunately there have been many difficult moments. When there is a change of coach it means that things go wrong, after so much time with Cervera they were very difficult moments. Football has these things. Part of the permanence is also from that coaching staff because we had a previous job that Sergio then took advantage of giving his nuances. This is everyone’s job and those bad moments have served to learn and achieve everyone’s goal “said.
The goal was achieved on the last day after winning in Vitoria and taking advantage of Granada’s puncture against Espanyol. “In Vitoria. I had never experienced what we lived through and I have lived through very special and beautiful moments. That of being pending two more games, of winning your game with all the pressure and of having all our people there was really wonderful”.
And nothing would be or would have been possible without the Cadista fans: “I am grateful that they are always there. Whatever the circumstances, they never leave us alone. The love they have for their club is incredible. We are privileged to have the fans we have, for us the best in all of Spain. Keep enjoying yourself, keep believing in this team, keep supporting us because we’re going to try to keep growing”.
