Lace Athletic elections take positions for a definitive quarter. In June at the latest, if Aitor Elizegi does not decide to advance the deadline that he set shortly after being proclaimed president, the club will have a new management. Ricardo Barkala, president of the Port of Bilbao, and Iaki Arechabaleta, Deputy CEO of Vocento, are the first to take the step. he’s still shy, because neither has publicly established himself as a candidate, but both maintain the idea of taking part in the elections. In fact, they have a working group that in recent weeks takes the pulse in different spheres of the rojiblanca social mass about his chances of leading the club.
The step, however, is yet to be taken and It does not seem that they will wait until Elizegi calls the elections. If there is interest in these being before the second half of June, and they can be held at the end of April or in the first days of May, it is convenient for them to apply as applicants and talk about the date.
The two first plates, however, could remain in one before the elections are held since many of those behind Barkala and Arechabaleta coincide in ideology and procedure. The different profiles that bring together their structures, which are still open, will fit into a consensus candidacy.
Also, there is a third goes that works to strengthen a candidacy made up of partners from different fields, with the majority of liberal professions, which stands out because most of them are under 50 years of age and maintain a close relationship with the day-to-day activities of the club. This working group, organized even before the last elections, although I lived it in the background then, needs a headliner to lead the electoral process. The identity of who would be president is not yet decidedalthough they hope that a renowned technology-based startup entrepreneur will accept the challenge.
