At least 10 people were killed and several wounded in a shooting at a supermarket. in the US town of Buffalo (New York), according to local police, who announced that the attacker was arrested.
“Ten people were killed by a man covered in armor and armed with a very powerful rifle, and three others were injured; two of them seriously,” The Buffalo News newspaper quoted a police officer present at the scene and another source close to authorities as saying.

According to a witness quoted by the channel ABC7 between 20 and 30 shots were heard.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences in a tweet following the incident, adding that Sheriff John Garcia “has directed all available resources and personnel to assist” police.
Braedyn Kephart and Shane Hill, both 20, entered the parking lot just as the shooter was leaving. They described him as a white male in his teens or early twenties, who looked full camouflage, a black helmet, and what appeared to be a rifle.
“He was standing there with the gun to his chin. We were like what the hell is going on? Why does this kid have a gun to his face? Kephart said. “He fell to his knees, took off his helmet, dropped his gun and was accosted by police,” the witness recounted.
The shooting comes just over a year after a March 2021 attack on a King Soopers supermarket in Boulder, Colorado that killed 10 people. Investigators have not released any information on why they believe the man accused of that attack targeted the supermarket.
